Ibiza architecture: prehistoric origins, Phoenician and Carthaginian legacy.

Ibiza architecture has its first traces in prehistoric settlements. Primitive communities built with dry stone and took advantage of natural caves as shelters. These early examples show how man adapted to the island environment since ancient times.

The arrival of the Phoenicians and Carthaginians transformed architecture in Ibiza. They introduced urban planning techniques, defensive constructions and temples dedicated to their divinities. Archaeological remains such as those of Sa Caleta reflect this influence, which laid the foundations for later development.
